It's time for a healthcare mindshift. Are you ready? Come along for this ride with me and I'll tell you what I mean.
So in the summer of 2021, I had the opportunity to jump off a rock ledge into a deep cold running creek. And the first part of that leap was in the mind. When I had to take that step off the ledge, I had to get my mind to allow my body to do this and say, “Yes, it’s safe. Do it. It's okay.” And then the experience takes over once that step off the ledge, the experience takes over and it's bliss and the plunge and the cold water and I did it.
And that's kind of what happened with me with my healthcare because there was a day when I was a member of the once-a-year club, dialing it in, and then I had a little bit of a nudge from the universe. You know, I needed to take a closer look at what was happening in my healthcare and I began to realize that I needed to take that plunge and take that step off that ledge and be a full participant in my healthcare. Not just dialing it in and expecting the healthcare provider to be the one that was going to make all the decisions and help me get to where I needed to be. I needed to be more specific about what was the healthspan that I want to manifest for myself.
So I'll tell you three things that you can do to make this mindshift and join me in this healthcare mindshift.
Number one, ask yourself the power question: “What do I want?” Ask yourself, “What do I want? What do I want my lifespan, my healthspan, to be ultimately.”
Number two, begin to visualize that lifespan, that healthspan, over the decades. And how does that progress and change and shift and grow? And what does the ninth decade look like? The tenth decade?
And then number three, write it down. In longhand, the old-fashioned way, write it down and really kind of begin to manifest what this healthspan’s going to be for you. And how you want it all to look at the end of the day. Because this is going to be your map for what it means to go forward.
